Anti-Spam Setup for a 3,000-Member Digital-Nomad City Group

Project: Telegram moderation kit for city-based digital-nomad groups Tags: telegram, moderation, digital-nomads, community, anti-spam A 3,000-member Telegram group for digital nomads in one city is useful for housing leads, co-working tips and weekend meetups. It is also a magnet for housing scams, fake visa agents and "relocation consultant" spam. This write-up is the setup we use so volunteers can sleep. Scams that hit nomad city groups Housing deposits. A "landlord" asks for a deposit before a viewing, then disappears. Photos are stolen from real listings. Visa and "residency agents". Accounts DM new members offering guaranteed visas for an upfront fee. SIM / eSIM phishing. "Government registration" links that harvest passport scans. Job and "client" bait. Fake remote-work offers that ask for a "training fee" or account access. Airport pickup and money-exchange scams aimed at people who just arrived. Group setup Private group with join requests. Question: "Which city are you based in this month, and are you looking for housing, work or community?" Hide the member list so agents can't harvest everyone who just landed. Topics: Housing, Visas & Admin, Coworking, Meetups, Scam Reports. Pin: "Admins never sell visas, housing or SIM cards by DM." Housing posts need a template: district, price, deposit terms, viewing method. Posts that only say "DM for details" are removed. Slow mode 30 seconds in Housing during peak move-in weeks. Rules that matter No deposit before an in-person or live video viewing. No payment to personal wallets for "visa processing". Report scams in Scam Reports with the username and the pattern, not a public pile-on. Passport and ID scans never go to strangers in DMs. Filtering while admins are in other time zones Nomad groups span time zones. Most spam arrives when the local volunteer is offline. 虾宝 (Xiabao) is an anti-ad bot for Telegram groups that is free for group owners. Add @xiabaotgbot as an admin with Delete messages and Ban users only. It removes the routine ad templates and scam links; humans keep the housing template and the join queue. Full setup notes are on the project URL set for this listing (xiabao.org). Checklist Join requests on, member list hidden Housing template enforced Scam Reports topic live Admin titles set Anti-spam bot covering nights Disclosure: built and documented by the 虾宝 (Xiabao) team.

Sculpted Stands

Design the perfect stand for your sampler or groovebox, and we build it to order.

I make custom stands for electronic music gear: samplers, grooveboxes, drum machines, the kind of devices that never quite sit right on a desk. Most stands are one-size-fits-all and tend to get a little wobbly because of it. Sculpted Stands are built per device, so your gear sits at the right angle, at the right height, exactly how you want to play it. How it works Design it — Use the in-browser designer to spec a stand for your device. We build it — Production starts as soon as you order. We ship it — It arrives at your door. You play — Put the "groove" back in your studio setup. There are ready-made designs for popular gear like the Roland SP-404MKII, Elektron Analog Rytm MKII, and Yamaha SEQTRAK, or over a hundred other pre-measured instruments. If I haven't measured your device yet, you can design your own for a perfect fit. Free shipping on 3 or more stands. 👉 Build a stand: https://www.sculptedstands.com

Half Quill

A few words from you, a few words from a stranger. Every day, a story grows.

Half Quill is a collaborative creative-writing platform where strangers build stories one section at a time. Each day you get a five-minute warm-up: read three plots the community started, write an ending for each, then plant a fresh plot of your own for tomorrow's writers to pick up. You can't write two sections in a row — the surprise of another human's imagination is the whole point. It's deliberately not another writing app. No publishing pipeline, no critique circles, no algorithmic feed, and no AI anywhere. Every word is typed by a person. Instead of chasing an audience, you're building stories you couldn't have planned: a memory-bottling merchant in a desert market, a stolen tome that grows tendrils, a letter swearing the ninja world is real. Keep a daily streak, earn Quills (an in-app currency you earn, never buy) to unlock inks, seals, and profile flair, and when a story feels finished, download it as an eBook that credits every writer who added a section. No sign-up needed to start — your first warm-up takes five minutes. Built solo, shipping in public since March 2026.

Forge UI

I've been building an open-source component library with a brutalist bent

Forty plus accessible React components, zero runtime CSS, themeable with CSS variables. MIT licensed. I wanted something opinionated that did not look like every other component kit.
